Alex,

Thanks for the comment.

You know I would wholeheartedly agree with this point: I remain convinced - like many others - that authenticity in tone of voice is something that will be of increasing importance towards the future.

Even though everyone has their personal style, one of the most powerful examples of authenticity in leadership I know is Steve Jobs. I'm sure you have seen it, but if not, check out Steve's Stanford commencement speech on YouTube: http://tinyurl.com/cgq9ad. Very powerful stuff indeed ...

As I said, the five items listed above are simple, but not easy. Still, I see great examples of companies finding their "true tone of voice" and building strong communities of trust around their brands. Recently, I came across the concept of "cult branding", which allows companies like Apple, Harley-Davidson and Vans to build such strong following.

For a good overview, check out this presentation on www.slideshare.net: http://tinyurl.com/d6bl3x

Ago,

One point caught my attention: "be authentic". This is probably one of the most powerful and most difficult elements to implement in a big corporation. Personally, I think this will be one of the most important elements of the future of marketing. To me that is what "branding through people" should all be about!

Cheers, Alex
